Ladies, what perfume do you wear in the summer? If you wear more than one, what is your rotation?

I rotate between some VS Pink body spray, Ralph by Ralph Lauren, and Omnia Crystalline by Bvlgari. They are light fresh clean scents. :)

Some yummies for you! And items for sale.

Hi all! Here's some tasty creations to inspire your appetites...

Here on the left we have sliced swiss cheese on low fat crackers, and some edamame. The other tier has fresh watermelon and strawberries. In hindsight, I should have thrown some blueberries in that tier to break up the color monotony. Oh well. The single tier box has shrimp and an HK cup of cocktail sauce, and a turkey/mustard/alfalfa wrap on a low cal tortilla. Total lunch calories= 300. I'm so enjoying these colorful picks! My cat chewed one up that he managed to get a hold of, but the rest are fine. :)

Two more boxes after the cut )

I also have some items to sell: A Putifresh apple one tier snap box, Putifresh apple chopsticks and case, and a rice mold that makes 4 mini shapes! All are brand new in original packaging. Look at the pics behind the cut!

Fingernails and eye gel

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 10:30 PM
Hi! This post is for my mother. So for a while now, my mother has been complaining that she has ridges on her fingernails, especially her thumbs. She has heard that it could be some sort of nutritional deficiency, but she can't tell exactly what. I've known her, well, since I was born (25 years now!) and I've always thought she ate really healthily. She went to a dermatologist once, and he said it was a sign of dryness and that soaking it in heavy creams would help, but she didn't think it helped a whole lot. She says it's gotten worse since she's gotten older (she's 59). When she's gotten them manicured, her nails get shredded when they're buffed, and when she grows them out they start splitting, especially after being buffed. Any advice that I can give her?

Also, a question for me: I would like to know what the best eye cream or gel for me to use. I think it would be best if I could find it at Sephora, but anywhere is fine. I recently bought Loreal's Revitalift eye cream, and it feels really good, like it actually firms up the skin, but I don't know if it's actually right for me personally, at my age (25 as I said above). Should I be looking for something that prevents wrinkles instead of trying to get rid of wrinkles I don't have? What's the best product for eyes at my age?

Thrifty beauty, yo!

So, I'm a cheap bitch. This probably really, really obvious.

I'm curious about something...

What are your favorite cheap beauty products or copycat products (I know there's an image going around with the NARS blush on someone's arm)?

Wardrobe must haves & what's IN for fall

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 7:53 PM

Hi! I need some help. Well, I've got a problem when I go shopping I pick the wrong items. Well, I don't know of a better way to explain that. I also hate fitting rooms. Bad experiences, I'll just say. So, I am wondering...what are some wardrobe must haves? I look at my closet, and it just looks thrown together, without any thought.

Also, what is IN for fall? Fall is coming up really soon, and I'd like to know what is going to be in style for the season :)

Thanks for your help!

halp please

hey guys! I got sunburnt today reallllly bad on my face and lower arms. I usually allllllllllways wear sunscreen when I know I'm going to be outside for a long time, but today I was caught unprepared. The burn doesn't hurt that much, but it is VERY red, especially on my face. I'm putting aloe vera on it constantly, but is there ANYTHING else I can do to take down the redness faster? It really looks ridiculous, haha.

Thank you!!

Shrunken Silk

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 5:20 PM
A couple months ago, I was hand-washing a silk shirt and thanks to my bad luck (but mostly my lack of talent at laundering delicates), it shrank. And wouldn't you know, it shrank awkwardly so now one sleeve is shorter than the other and the sides ride at different lengths.

Google has failed me at how to correct such a heinous crime against fashion (and my wallet, that shirt was expensive). Any tips on how to stretch the silk out to its original length?

Hey guys! I just got LUSH's Curly Wurly shampoo, and I think I'm in love. However, it gets my hair SO CLEAN that I definitely need a conditioner with it. I used one that was in our shower for now, but before I go back to LUSH and shell out another $20 for a conditioner, are there any no cone conditioners I can get cheaper anywhere else? There wouldn't by any chance be any that I could get at say a CVS or Walgreens, would there? is this just wishful thinking on my part? Or do any of you have any at-home recipes you can recommend for a conditioner? Thanks!

By the way, I also got Sultana of Soap, and between that and the coconut vanilla scent of the shampoo, I smell like I took a bath at a bakery!

Edited to add one more question:
I feel like no matter what I do, I can't get my knees shaved perfectly smooth. I exfoliate before I shave, I use Shick Quattro for a razor, and I try so so so hard but there's still hair! Help :o(

waxing!

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 6:54 PM
k so, I get my eyebrows waxed at just a regular nail salon and I know they offer bikini waxes there but do people actually get something like that done at a nail place? or is there a specific type of place you go to for it. the reason I ask is because I am looking to get my first bikini wax and am completely clueless.

AHA hand lotion?

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 5:19 PM
OK so I'm old (43) but my hands look really old, probably from lots of housework but also I just inherited ugly hands from my grandmas. I'm thinking a daily mild AHA lotion would help. Checked at Walgreen's last night and didn't see anything containing AHA for under $30, and that was all for the face...what do you all recommend? Note: I'm not looking for a super dry-skin kind of hand cream, I have two that I love. Thanks!

acne/period

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 3:21 PM
Is it normal for acne to clear up or get better while youre on your period? Because mind has gotten betten since mine started. Although I havent washed my face everyday so is it normal that sometimes not washing your face could be good for you?

Thanks for any help.

Razor Burn

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 3:10 PM

I need to know how to stop razor burn, especially on my bikini line.

I have tried switching razors, using different shaving creams, and even some products that promise to "prevent razor burn." But none have worked. Does anybody use anything they would swear by??

Thanks!!

Higher End Products

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 4:09 PM
I know that a lot of good drugstore products can double for the higher end, much more expensive counterparts. I am starting to think that for some products, it really might be worth it to pay more. I'm really interested in trying MAC's Blot Pressed Powder and maybe even a department store brand foundation with good staying power. Is the MAC Blot worth it? What do you think are some higher end products that are more than worth their price tags?
By the way, I have oily/combination skin that tends to get really oily by midday in the Florida humidity. Thanks in advance for any comments!

2 questions

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 12:37 PM
1) Do any of you know a good, *natural* clarifying shampoo? I.e., without sulfates/detergents? Is there such a thing?
2) What is your favorite brush to apply mineral foundation with and why? Preferably for under $25. ETA: I'd like to know the brand name, too!

Organic Wear by Physician's Formula

  • Jul. 25th, 2008 at 3:08 PM

a) pressed powder                 b) matt finishing veil

I want to get either one of these two, but I can't choose which. They both claim to absorb excess oils and provide enough coverage to discreetly even out skin tone. I'm not sure how either of them will behave when applied, but I don't want powder-y look because its obvious in the around-the-face areas where there's slight fuzz, you know?  I need some input please from those of you who have experience with both of these, which one is a better choice for this, and keeps it matte? Thanks!
